Philippians 1:27-28 (NKJV) says, “Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.”

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:2 (NASB), “looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” You will never find true joy in the midst of distraction. If you turn your mind away from everything that could bewilder you, you will be able to tap into the grace of the One who can perfect you.

Jesus focused on the joy of seeing His goal accomplished. It was this joy that enabled Him to endure the cross and disregard shame. Imagine…being so focused on the end result of a goal that your mind automatically omits anything negative, because the value of the goal means more to you than anything negative.

Stubbornness will never get you anywhere, nor the lack of God’s Word. Until you completely surrender in your heart to Jesus, nothing in your life will change and last. I have a question for you…did Jesus give up on you? Did Jesus focus more on how difficult it was to endure all He had to leading up to the cross and how hard it was to carry the cross?

Always remember, when thoughts come, we are the ones to assign them with meaning and reasoning. Whatever things are in the heart, reveal the character of a person. These things envelop the conditioning of the mind which reflects one’s conduct. Our theme verse says, “only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ…that you stand fast in the one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel…” Be conscious of this truth, so you can share the same endeavor of faith with the brethren, standing firm in Christ.
